In the sweltering summer of 1988, documentary mainstay St. Clair Bourne followed Spike Lee and his crew through Bed-Stuy as they shot the director's then-controversial breakout film Do the Right Thing. Alongside interviews with Samuel L. Jackson, John Turturro and Melvin Van Peebles, Bourne asks residents what it's like to have their neighborhood turned upside-down. More than a behind-the-scenes glance, Making Do the Right Thing stands on its own as a vital document of a community in transition.

Screening on 16mm. Courtesy of Film Desk and Chamba Media. Special thanks to Jake Perlin and Judith Bourne.

Stay for the 8:30pm screening of Do the Right Thing. $10 for one screening, $15 double feature.
