Experimental innovator Pat O’Neill helped design the visual effects that came to define Star Wars, like the lighting bolts that flash from Darth Vader's fingertips, among other visual magic. We present this early short film in which O’Neill layers images to create colorful and hypnotic abstractions — some of the techniques that informed his work on Star Wars.
