AS WE PROCEED by Matt Webster. 2020. 23 min.
A time capsule of Far Rockaway just before and during Hurricane Sandy. Longtime resident Matt Webster’s hi8 video diary flickers between bungalow parties and boardwalk adventures, culminating in rain-splattered, close-up footage of the storm. A love letter to the people of Rockaway.
MORNING OF THE EARTH by Albert Falzon. 1972. 79 min.
In celebration of the film’s 50th anniversary, we present the east-coast premiere of the newly restored masterpiece of surf cinema. Finding flow between the breaking swell, Australian waverider Albert Falzon relishes in the effortless styles of legends: Stephen Cooney, Rusty Miller, Nat Young, Terry Fitzgerald, Michael Peterson & Gerry Lopez. The glorious 16mm imagery turns cosmic over the psychedelic soundtrack by G. Wayne Thomas.
Rockaway Film Festival would like to thank VBX™~Vernam Basin Terminal for generously hosting us at the Arverne Cinema in addition to BBX™~Barbadoes Basin Terminal for contributing to such.
