FANTASIA + FISCHINGER
Rhapsodies of visual music by cine-magician Oskar Fischinger, whose groundbreaking animations changed the cinematic frontier. His early Study No. 8 was one of his films that led to the concept of Disney’s Fantasia and was among his films screened for the animation staff to teach them how to animate abstract images to classical music. Before we show Disney’s famous feature masterpiece, we present one of Fischinger’s later plays of light and sound, Motion Painting no 1, with a special live performance of the original Bach score by Rockaway Chamber Music.
