The sci-fi saga continues in acclaimed Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve’s dark and colossal blockbuster Dune: Part Two, where messiah Paul Atreides embarks on a path of revenge after the fall of the House of Atreides while endeavoring to prevent a terrible future that only he can foresee.
The Arverne Cinema will open at 6pm with a dystopian Afrofuturist DJ set. The screening will start at 8:30pm.
subt.le is a dj/sound-selector, multidisciplinary artist, from the Atlantic Ocean by way of Hampton Roads VA, who creates installations exploring African Diasporic identities, honoring his ancestors’ stories through archival and found materials, sound collages, painting, film, and other forms. subt.le's practice generates pathways to acknowledge and alchemize harms committed to disrupt despair, to equip and strengthen past, present, and future generations. He is based in NYC and is currently an MFA candidate at Queens College focusing on Social Practice and Installation. He is also a member of the New York City based artist collective and record label PTP.
